What’s new in Android 14

Android 14 mobile

The most popular operating system has launched a new version Android 14 on March 2024. This version comes with lots of enhanced features such as taking high-quality pictures with Ultra HDR, a new customization picker, and improved device security with a recommended 6-digit unlock password. Here, we break down the features that caught our attention.

Enhanced Picture Quality

Android 14 supports Ultra HDR so you can take HDR images and display them on brilliant HDR screens for more vibrant colors, brighter highlights, and darker shadows.

Customization of Lock Screen

You’ve been able to customize your home screen for a long time, but with Android 14 you have more tools to customize your lock screen. There are lock screen rings, lock screen templates, monochrome themes, and support for Ultra HDR images. You can also create parallax wallpapers using your photos, cartoon-style wallpapers with your favorite emoji, and even creative wallpapers based on text inspiration.

Improved Security Features

Since malware often looks for older versions of Android to avoid security fixes in newer versions, Android 14 won’t allow you to install older apps from Android 5.1 first. There are a few other tweaks in the background to improve security. Still, perhaps the most notable is better support for authentication and passwords that allow biometric logins instead of passwords for other apps.

Android 14 also will ensure your device security with a 6-digit screen unlock password which is a good move towards device security. It will be difficult to crack passwords by unexpected users.

Health Connect App

The Android 14 has a pre-installed Health Connect app that allows you to share your health and fitness data across different apps and services. You can monitor your health and fitness easily and effortlessly.

Easily Support to your Hearing aids

More good news for people with hearing loss is that Android 14 will stop using other Bluetooth devices to connect to hearing aids. There is a new page dedicated to hearing aids, and you can choose which sound should go to the hearing aid and which should come from the speaker. To prevent hearing damage, Android 14 will warn you when you listen to loud music for a long time using pop-up notifications.

How to install Android 14

You will get a notification on your device when the updates are available. You go to settings, check software updates, follow the instructions, and download. Now your device is ready with the latest version of Android.
